What’s Steve Building – 10195 Republic Dropship and AT-OT Apparently we did good
Mar 02

So I’ve been on a bit of a Battlestar Galactica kick of late.  I got season 1 for my birthday last October and my wife and I have been picking up seasons as we finish some others.  Well, we just finished the first 10 episodes of season 4, so now we’re stuck waiting for the series to finish on TV so we can buy the last half of season 4.

I’m so obsessed with wanting to know what’s going to happen though that I keep looking at wikipedia and the sci-fi site to see glimpses.  Its one thing that frustrates me about the internet now.  Yes any information I could ever want is right there at my fingertips…and the bad part is that ALL the information I could ever want is right there at my fingertips.  Especially when it comes to something like a TV show or a comic I’m only reading in graphic novels.

If you have a weakness for story like I do, this is a major problem when you also want to save yourself for when you finally get to sit down and watch the show.  Yeah you can say that I could just watch them online, but then what’s the point of buying the DVD’s and frankly, my collector mentality will not let me buy all but the last set of ANYTHING.

Oh well, at least the show ended up being really good.  I keep telling myself I want to build the galactica and then reminding myslef what a stupid big project that would be.  At the end of the day though, what’s the point of having a lot of LEGO bricks if you’re not going to use it for something :)

See, I’m the opposite. I’ve been watching Battlestar Galactica since it first started up, and rather than buying the individual season box sets as they come out I’m going to wait until they make a single fancy box set that will take up five times less space and still look really cool. Actually, I take that back. I’ll wait until they release it and I can get it on sale or with a good discount, just like I’ve done for Andromeda and Stargate SG-1. Also, I recommend both of those, and Farscape too, if you enjoy Battlestar. Farscape is hard to get a hold of these days since the DVDs are out of print though. There is, however, a comic now. :)

yeah, I don’t actually have cable or anything, so watching shows in collections is usually the way I go. I could watch them online, but for some reason that lessens the coolness when I finally get the disks. still drives me crazy though.

I don’t have cable either. Hulu is pretty much all I need with a cable from my computer to my TV (because I’m a geek like that).

I think the show came off the rails when they escaped New Caprica. I stopped watching it after the mid-season return in January. I’m utterly disgusted with the direction they’ve taken the show. Feh.

ah see I like all the funky stuff that’s happening now. maybe its easier since I’m watching it all in one big chunk though. It was never a pure sci-fi show anyways, even if it started out a bit that way. It’s always been a bit of a weird religious/metaphysical bit of strangeness.

That being said, I still really like all the ships and want to build them :)

Oooh, BSG! I just got to see Baltar, Cat, Seelix, the original Starbuck, Boomer and Lt. Sheba in a panel at MegaCon this weekend. It was much cooler than I thought it would be.

    Geek spew over. Carry on.

We don’t have cable either, although we’re enjoying the nice, crisp picture that comes from our DTV converter box. For the most part, we use our local library as a “poor-man’s Netflix.” We’ve watched all of the released seasons of Monk, I’ve made it all the way through all 10 seasons of SG-1, and my wife has watched all of the West Wing that way. We’re now working on the John Adams miniseries. So, if you’ve got a library near by, you might also see what you can find there, especially if you’d like to check something out before buying it.
