so this year my event season starts in april which means I have a month or so here of relative quiet, then I’ll kick into high gear. currently I’m just going to be busy trying to make sure i’m ready for all of these events when they hit, but thats part of it.
as of now I’ll be going to:

so I’ve been working on the inital steps for some of the events coming up this year already and the schedule already looks daunting. looks like the only month I won’t be traveling after April is september, well until brickcon starts on the 30th, but I’ve got pretty much that whole month to play catch up. It’ll be a fun year though, lots of great events.
I hope people are still able to make it out this time around even with the economy being all wonky.

So we bought a house on November 30th and I’ve found myself obsessing over home projects. I don’t even know what I’m doing for the most part but I’m obsessed none-the-less. My parents were up for two weeks during the holiday and we spent a lot of time building on my basement. I now have a pretty good Idea what I want to do to finish my basement out but I want to do it quick so I can get my LEGO out of my freezing cold garage.
Does cold hurt LEGO? I feel like I should know the answer to that…sigh I fail at my job.
Anyways, we put up a bunch of dry wall and my dad put a soffet around the duct work (looks mega good). now I just have a whole liteny of other things to take care of and eventually I’ll get it there. Its way fun though being able to alter the house in semi permanent ways for my own enjoyment. hooray!
I had a great Christmas and got some good stuff for sure. My wife got me some great sweaters and my inlaws bought me all sorts of TCU gear (go frogs). My parents bought all the materials for redoing the basement so I was happy with that side of it for sure.
My wife got Mario Brothers Wii which is incredible. Its essentially Mario Brothers 3 but spruced up and given new features. MB3 was my favorite of the Marios growing up (well until Mario World, and then Mario 64 was also nice) but it was still a great one. I remember it most playing it with my sister.
Anyways, Holidays were good and now I’m just prepping for my meeting in billund in a few weeks.

Its got to the point where going outside and cutting myself seem like similar choices up here in the greater New England area (cause come on, New England is essentially a single states and the actual states are just counties…why do you think its the New England Patriots??? they’re the only one’s admitting it). I got an iPhone yesterday so I’m all excited about talking on it. I usually call family while I walk between buildings here at the LEGO Campus, but when its this cold my hand freezes while trying to talk. its crazy.
Anyways, This weekend is more moving and painting and moving. We’re going to go get a new bedframe this weekend so thats cool. Oh yeah, I got a call from Best Buy today, and they ran out of the washer/dryer set we paid for on Black Friday…so they’re giving us the next level up for no additional charge to make up for their mistake. I love a company that will give you something nicer than what you thought you were getting and will constantly apologize to you about it. Yay for Best Buy, my customer affinity for you has gone up significantly
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I’ve been going through the new 7208 firestation that I was able to snag at the company store because they got them damaged. I don’t know if this one is out in stores yet, but if it is then some folks will just be able to follow along with what I’m talking about better. I also got the two new Space Police sets (excellent), two Atlantis sets (also cool), and a small power miners set.
Anyways, there are some wild new parts in this fire station that I think are pretty neat. First off there’s a 2×6 plate with a snot element built into it. its just wild. I feel like this can become a really useful part for a lot of things, but I was just excited when I saw it.
Anyways the other one is a 1×2x5 brick with a groove in it. its basically the 1×2 with groove stacked up. its cool though because it make the wall element multi use and also gives it some detail. Also if you don’t want to show the groove then you just turn it around.
There’s gonna be a lot of fun this next year…I can feel it
oh and you gotta love 2×4 tiles. they’re swell.

The end of the year snuck up on me this year. 2009 has been eventful for me to say the least. The year for AFOL events has been pretty impressive. lots of big ones and more big ones happening next year. There will be a bunch of travel for me, but thats the job
We’ve been getting moved into our house this last week. We’ve made a couple trips to IKEA now and we picked out some nice Night stands last night. We need to get some new paint on a couple of walls, but again we’ll get there.
I finished my christmas shopping so its nice to have that done as well. now I’m just trying to figure out what all needs to be done at work so I can get it finished up

we signed for our new house yesterday and spent our first night there last night. Its way fun. We ran around the house yelling and I played Guitar Hero really loud at midnight. We’ve been in apartements for way too long if this is what we consider a super exciting activity, but it was exciting none the less.
Christmas is quickly coming now and I’m excited about it, even though I’m out of money already
Nov 29
Well the day is here. tomorrow we’ll sign our papers and finally own our very house. yay, sorry I’ve been quiet lately, I’ve been wrapped up in house stuff…and just a little bit lazy about it. I’ll do my best to get back on track soon.

I’ve been helping out with LEGO Kidsfest in Hartford this week. its been a really crazy sort of thing. they had pre-sold 13,300 tickets and its jam packed in there. I’ve been setting up a pizza party for the AFOLs involved tonight so I’m missing the crowds for the moment but I’m about to head back up there.
I hope everyone is well.

so I ate at taco bell last night and I realized something. Over the years I’ve tried every manner of taco/burrito that they could come up with and I find that it still is always the original crunchy and soft tacos that give me the most satisfaction. I mean the other stuff is good, but the original two leave me the happiest at the end. I’m just not going to order the other weird stuff anymore.
